These plants are a close relative of the Colocasia, and also sport heart-shaped leaves. The heart-shaped leaves identify the plant as a "Fancy Leaf Caladium", while a more slender, tapered leaf is called a "Strap Leaf Caladium". Caladium plants can be found on the rainforest floor in South America, where they thrive in the humidity and shade. Variegation in caladium plants ranges from splashes of color, pronounced veins, or even spots!
