In the spring of 2021, the magnetic fields of the black hole were captured in a polarized-based image with clarity never before seen. This black hole is located in the Messier 87 galaxy (AKA Virgo A or NGC4486), first catalogued by French astronomer Charles Messier in the 1700's.
