Mary Leakey was a brilliant archeologist who discovered many significant human, hominid, and ape fossils, as well as rock paintings. The majority of her significant findings were in Africa and her family worked closely with locals to find appropriate dig sites. The family's dalmatians would be present at the Leakey dig sites to warn them if any dangerous African wildlife got too close. The skull in the background is one of her discoveries, Paranthropus Boisei, en extinct relative to the Homo genus.
